It’s a lot of work launching a new site! I have posts and comments on my original site I’m trying to move. This might be a new beginning because I rather spend my time reading about composting.
My nana lives in St. Catherines Ontario, CA and every time I visit I learn more and more about recycling-Canada does a great job at making sure as little as possible goes to landfills. Nana must have 6 boxes to sort her garbage and somehow they keep it all straight.
The Maplewood Community Garden is going to require that all our debris and rotten veggies be composted. Looks like I’ll be turning the trash! If you would like to learn more about composting you can visit this link http://www.epa.gov/osw/conserve/rrr/composting/

Thanks to the Township of Maplewood, I will be working with Irene Dunsavage and the Maplewood Community Garden Committee members this spring. Ms. Dunsavage, a former Art Teacher at the Clinton School and founder of the community garden has invited me to assist her with running the childrens garden.
The children garden plot will be 10 x 5 and will feed local families in need. Thanks to Mr. Meade of the St. James Gate Publick House and Tracy and Mark of 3r Living for their support.
There are only 2 plots available. If you are interested in participating in the 2010 community garden, please email Ms. Dunsavage at idunsavage@comcast.net
If You Love it Keep it Clean!

This is our village, our town, if you love it keep it clean! There are bins for trash up and down both main avenues in Maplewood. Springfield Avenue has just put in the most beautiful sidewalks so please, if you have trash make sure you put it in one of the bins. I have no idea how much of our families tax dollars and grants were spent on beautifying the Springfield Avenue district but I’m sure it was a lot.
Maplewood Village has trash bins on every corner. Recently we even got a recycling bin placed on the corner of Maplewood Avenue a few feet from the St. James’ Publick House. Keeping our town clean helps businesses and keeps our town looking its best.
Maplewood Green Day

Green Day was fun but tiresome. Four hours into our clean up we had collected 7 bags of trash and a bicycle seat! Thanks to my friends, the girlz, Maplewood is looking just a bit cleaner.

Happy to say, my friends are excited to join me in my first town clean up and the local merchants are showing their support. Thank you to Village Belle, Anthony Garubo, The St. James’ Gate Publick House, Roman Gourmet and Kings for donating gloves and garbage bags so I don’t need to dip into my piggy bank or ask my moms for money!
We will be around town from 10-2 collecting garbage-you’ll know who we are by our tee’s donated by Village Belle-what a girl wants!
Maplewood Green Day

October 10, 2009 celebrates Maplewood’s 3rd annual Green Day fair and the girlz are taking to the streets to pick up the trash. Live music, how-to-workshops and organic foods will fill the Maplewood Memorial Park.
While local families fill the park, the girlz will be picking up trash to keep it green.
